New Orleans Muffuletta Style Pizza

The Muffuletta sandwich, created in 1906 at Central Grocery, is a French Quarter specialty. This pizza has all the elements and is a great treat using wonderful Italian ingredients.

New Orleans Muffuletta Style Pizza 
Makes 2 -12 inch pizzas

1/2 cup finely chopped celery
1/3 cup chopped pimento stuffed green olives
1/4 cup chopped pepperoncini peppers
1/4 cup chopped cocktail onions
1 clove garlic, minced
2 Roma tomatoes, chopped
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tsp from a package of dry Italian salad dressing mix
4 oz thin sliced Proscuitto or deli ham, divided
3 oz sliced hard salami, divided
8 oz shredded provolone cheese, divided
4 oz shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Dough for 2 -12 inch crusts
Extra virgin olive oil

Mix the first 8 ingredients together in a container and chill overnight. Prepare dough for 2 pizzas. Top each crust in order with the provolone, Prosciutto and salami, half of olive salad, and mozzarella. Drizzle each with a little oil. Bake in preheated 500° F oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack for 2 to 3 minutes before cutting into wedges.
