Shrimp in Beer & Cocktail Sauce Recipe

Folks, it just doesn’t get much better than this. Fresh shrimp boiled in a seasoned beer bath, steeped to soak up the wonderful flavors and a spicy cocktail sauce for dipping. Of the many shrimp recipes we like, this one stands pretty tall. Enjoy!

Tabasco Cocktail Sauce

1 1/2 cups ketchup
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon Tabasco

Mix all ingredients together and chill for at least an hour.

Shrimp in Beer

2 sticks of butter
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 cup vinegar
3 -12 oz bottles beer (dark or light ale works best)
5 pounds medium to large shrimp, peeled and deveined
In a large stockpot, melt butter over medium high heat. Add the onions and sauté until transparent. Add the remaining ingredients except the shrimp and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add the shrimp and cook for 5 minutes or until shrimp just starts to turn pink. Turn off heat and let set for 20 to 30 minutes to soak up the flavors. Can be refrigerated and reheated before serving if desired.

    1. I thought you are making drunken shrimps. Have you ever tried putting live shrimps in beer before cooking? Give a try.
